All Nigerians stuck in Sudan, according to the FG, have been successfully evacuated

On Friday, May 5, the Federal Government declared that it had successfully evacuated every Nigerian who had been left behind in the unstable capital of Sudan, Khartoum.

Dr. Sani Gwarzo, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs' Permanent Secretary, made this announcement as he welcomed the second group of 130 evacuees at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

According to Gwarzo, TARCO Aircraft B373-300 carrying the evacuees from Port Sudan arrived at the Pilgrims Terminal of the Airport at precisely 3:10 p.m. local time.

He stated:

"I'm delighted to report that we have successfully removed everyone who needed to be removed from Khartoum; none of your current coworkers are still in Khartoum.

"You were the first group to leave Khartoum and be taken to the Egyptian border; some of them are still with us, while others have already made it to Nigeria.

The majority of them, though, won't arrive for at least eight hours, so by then no Nigerians would still be at the Egyptian border.
