Outcry as police arrests man who posted viral video of Sokoto governor's wife's lavish party

 

Nigerians are calling out the Sokoto State Government over the arrest of a social media user, Shafi’u Umar Tureta.

 

The social media critic was arrested by heavily armed policemen after he posted a viral video of the “lavish and extravagant birthday party of the governor’s wife.”

From 2025, anybody applying to go to university in Nigeria will have to meet the required age which is 18 - Education Minister Tahir Mamman


 Education Minister Tahir Mamman announced on Channels Television's "Sunday Politics" that the Federal Government has instituted a new age policy for secondary school leaving examinations, setting the minimum age at 18. 

 

Underage candidates will no longer be allowed to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), both crucial for advancing to tertiary education.

 The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on Wednesday, August 21, expressed concerns about the alleged diversion of nutrition supplements in some communities in Sokoto State.

 

UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, Micheal Juma, addressed the issue during the quarterly policymakers’ meeting in Sokoto.

American actress, Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after 2 years of marriage.

 

 

Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday, August 20, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to court documents. A source close to Lopez said the couple did not have a prenup.

 

 

The former lovers married in July 2022 after having rekindled their relationship the previous year.

Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia completes five-year FIFA ban over match-fixing

 

Samson Siasia, a former Super Eagles player and coach, has officially completed a five-year ban imposed by FIFA over match-fixing allegations. 

 

Originally handed a lifetime ban, Siasia's penalty was reduced to five years by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in 2019, which ruled that a lifetime ban was excessive for a first-time offender who played a passive role in the offence.
