Lagos Police Commissioner Mediates Eyin-Osa Land Crisis, Calls for Amicable Resolution, As Murphy Adebare Is Cautioned

 


The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, intervened in the ongoing land dispute involving Murphy Adebare of Topaz Garden, ACP Jejeloye of the Lagos Taskforce, and LSSTF member, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, concerning the Eyin-Osa community in the Free Trade Zone Parcel B and its resettlement area called Resettlement of Eyin Osa. On June 13th, the Commissioner invited all parties to his office at the police command in Ikeja, Lagos for a hearing, in an effort to resolve the matter.

 The Federal Government has declared Monday, June 12, 2023 Public Holiday in commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

 

 The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement she released today June 8.

In a dramatic turn of events, Murphy Adebare, also known as Topaz, trading in the name of Topaz Garden, was arrested by officials from the DC, Admin Force C.I.D in Ajah, Lagos on May 30th, 2023. Media reports have it that Adebare had been evading criminal charges filed before the Hon. Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offense court related to land-grabbing, forceful taking over, and criminal trespassing. 

The Nigeria Labour Congress explains why it didn't embark on a strike over subsidy removal


The Nigeria Labour Congress has said that it decided to call off its strike over the removal of fuel subsidy partly in obedience to an order of the National Industrial Court (NICN).


In a communique issued after an emergency National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, June 6, the NLC faulted the court order, saying it amounted to an abuse of ex-parte injunction.


The group directed all affiliates and state councils to suspend mobilisation until the outcome of the negotiations.
